“Be Agents of Innovation and Integrity," HOS Charges Planning Officers And Accountants
Anambra State Head of Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, Esq, mni, has tasked Planning Officers and Accountants to lead the push for transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across the state’s public service.
Speaking today at the ongoing Human Resources Development Week at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka, the HoS described the training as timely and significant given the pivotal role of the two cadres in government operations.
“Government programmes succeed on sound planning, prudent resource allocation, fiscal discipline, and evidence-based decisions,” Iwouno said. “Planning Officers are strategic drivers who align programmes with policy objectives. Accountants are custodians of public funds whose professionalism sustains public trust.”
She warned that the fast-changing governance environment now demands data-driven planning, performance management, digital transformation, and results-oriented service delivery. “Continuous professional development is no longer optional, it’s imperative,” she stressed.
The Head of Service further said that the training was designed to sharpen participants’ skills in areas critical to their duties, and urged them to engage fully in lectures, discussions, and practical sessions.
“The knowledge you gain here will boost your effectiveness and improve service delivery across MDAs,” she told the officers.
The Civil Service boss reminded attendees that technical skill must be matched with values. “Competence must be complemented by integrity, discipline, accountability, professionalism, and commitment to excellence. These are the foundation of a responsive Public Service that meets government and citizen expectations,” she said.
She reaffirmed Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to building a modern, efficient, technology-driven Civil Service, and urged the Officers to position themselves as agents of innovation, prudent resource management, and sustainable development.
Iwouno also commended resource persons, organizers, and participants for their dedication, expressing confidence that they would return to their offices better equipped and more committed to delivering an efficient, accountable, high-performing Anambra Civil Service.
HR Development Week continues with more professional sessions aimed at strengthening capacity and service delivery across Anambra State.
