Anambra State's Head of Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno, Esq, mni has launched a sanitation exercise across government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with a zero-tolerance policy on waste. This initiative aligns with governor Chukwuma Soludo's efforts to maintain a clean, green and healthy environment.

The Sanitation exercise which commenced at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat complex, Awka kick started with an inspection tour across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) by the Head of Service alongside the College of Permanent Secretaries who were equally in active participation.

The exercise became paramount after the governor's impromptu visit to the secretariat where the meticulous HOS took notice of some faulty furniture littering some offices and other debris which she described as an eye sour.

The foremost Civil Servant there and then declared Wednesday a clean-up day with an intention to making it a monthly exercise in order to maintain a clean and healthy work environment in a bid to position the Anambra service as an enviable jewel nationwide.

Ensuring strict compliance, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno esq. mni visited some Ministries and MDA's outside the secretariat complex, among them was the Ministry of Women Affairs who were found not in active participation an inaction which attracted sanctions especially to workers who were absent.

However, every other ministry participated actively in the cleaning exercise which left the state secretariat flawlessly clean with all the broken furniture kept out of sight and those to be refurbished, sorted carefully.

It was a turn around at the state secretariat as some neighbours such as the Nigeria Police Station, B Division, Awka were equally affected when they were asked by Iwouno to remove the impounded vehicles abandoned along the secretariat road while helping to maintain a high level of hygiene as immediate neighbours to the Anambra Secretariat.

Speaking on behalf of the college of permanent secretaries, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Engr.
